Robert Lee Davis is a mixed media painter who lives and works in Naarm/Melbourne. His layered paintings and collages, built from old texts, maps and found objects, explore memory, history and place. He has been shortlisted for the Omnia Art Prize, the Glover Art Prize and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Spaghetti Weston designed and built a custom WordPress theme for the site, and hosts it. The theme gives the artworks room to breathe, and brings his paintings, workshops, courses and talks together in one place.
A soft, near-black and grey palette keeps the pages calm around busy, colourful collages, with sky and powder blues for links and the Contact button, and a deep teal for the talks.

Bold Futura capitals give page titles a confident, modernist voice, a widely tracked Montserrat menu sits lightly across the top of every page, and Open Sans keeps the artist statement and biography easy to read.

Large artwork tiles lead to the three sides of the practice: the paintings, the workshops and the courses, each labelled in Futura on a pale panel.
The Life Landscapes series is shown at its true, extra-wide proportions, one panorama above another, so the long horizons read as they do on the wall.
Each series, from Mirrored Landscapes to Urban Dreams and Small Works, has its own heading and an even, uncluttered layout.
Any work opens full screen in a lightbox, with a strip of thumbnails for moving through the rest of the series.
Filmed talks, including two TEDx talks, sit in pale cards with deep teal titles and a short description of each.
On a phone the opening painting fills the screen, the menu opens as a clean full-screen list with the Contact button beneath it, and the panoramas stack into a single scrolling column.

From mirrored cityscapes to long Life Landscapes panoramas, the artworks carry the colour while the site stays quiet around them.
Spaghetti Weston designs, builds and hosts websites for artists, museums and heritage projects, with hosting powered by 100% renewable energy.
